Guess where I will be for the next 6 weeks...?

oui!

As well as London, Berlin, Prague, Brussels, Amsterdam :)
I've gone overboard preparing the perfect outfits and looks while I'm overseas so look forward to a new direction my blog will be taking...

mostly due to the free time I will have seeing as I will be unemployed haha.

au revoir!

No Shave November...?

I'm totally against No Shave November. If we ladies need to keep our hairs in check, so do the men. Maybe I won't shave... it may keep me warmer haha. Anyway,  this November, I'll be attempting to shave off some extra pounds :)

I've thrown my blog aside and not updated in too long. Holidays have come and gone.... okay, not many. Just one that is most important: Halloween! Sad to say, I did not dress up this year but I did don an adorable ear cover/headband.

I got it last year from Anthropologie and never wore it out. Once again, I apologize for the terrible picture quality. I WILL be purchasing a camera on cyber monday! :)

I also got a job at ULTA! I'm so excited to be around make up and make up lovers. and that DISCOUNT! YUM! I still can't wear any makeup or jewelry to my full-time job so this makes up for it and much much more. I can't wait to start trying more products and posting about it here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

For those that follow the lunar calendar, happy holidays! This past wednesday was Korean Thanksgiving. Many people celebrate differently. Other than the usual foods that people eat such as persimmons, pears, rice cakes, my family puts on a huge ceremony. My dad happens to be the first born so it is his (my mom's) responsibility to honor his parents on this day. My mom and I prepared foods. set them on the table. say some prayers. and EAT. These are foods we only get to see when the ceremony is put on so it's usually something to look forward to :)

I apologize that my post content has mostly been about food. Work has been pretty busy. It's amazing what the end result of my work is... This weekend I'm giving my sister lace nails and fixing her horrendous eyebrows lol. I'm gonna be moving my stuff over to my new place so hopefully I'll have more time to dedicate to this blog instead of commuting more than an hour each way.

TGIF :) enjoy your weekend!

Best Birthday Gifts!

Prime Rib Birthday Dinner at The Library 2, Voorhees, NJ

I apologize for the poor quality of the picture. I snapped it real quick with my phone. Other than the many "happy birthdays" on facebook, I just spent time with my parents. They bought me the usual. Dinner, birthday cake, flowers. My cake this year was a green tea cake. Now, I'm not a fan of green tea. I'll drink it on occasion but the ice cream... the ice cream is NASTY. NOT my favorite. So I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed my cake. Last night's meal was my splurge. Medium rare prime rib with roasted garlic mashed potatoes. I DIED. I need to get back on my diet. It seems that my recent dosage of steroids has upped my weight a bit =X I've been experimenting with Tofu Shirataki Noodles. They're actually not so bad once you get used to it.

My gift from my family.... *drumroll* will be a DSLR :) I just have to decide what I want and my mom will come and purchase it for me. How sweet of her... she knows I'd spend it on something else if she gave it to me hahaha. What camera do you guys use? I've definitely been looking into a few Canons so we'll see what I'll decide on.

Honestly, though, I can say the camera was not the greatest gift. I'd have to say it was getting my smile back. Last month, on August 17, 2010, I randomly got Bell's Palsy. O.M.G. I cried for the next few days because to me, at that moment, it was the worst thing that would ever happen to anyone. The left half of my face was paralyzed. I couldn't blink. I couldn't hear. I couldn't speak properly. My entire world was flipped upside down. I searched the internet only to find stories of people who have not recovered from Bell's Palsy. I stayed inside and never went out. I hid this from most of my friends and the ones I did tell, I refused to let them see me this way. After two weeks though, my face got somewhat better. I noticed a twitch around the left corner of my lip. I was ecstatic for even seeing the smallest improvement. I went out that weekend to have dinner with my friends because one of them was back home from graduate school for the week.

With CB & AJ. Week 2 with Bell's Palsy

I also included some video clips that I had recorded of myself to track my progress. I'm truly thankful that it's gone and that I'm able to be myself again and smile. I returned to work after taking some time off fully functioning!

Happy Birthday, Blog/ Me!

Hello, everyone out there. I'm 23 today. Oh, and "Sylvia's Frosting" is born today!

Since this is my first post, I thought it was only appropriate that I introduce myself to you all. Hi, I'm Sylvia! ... Did I mention I'm 23 today? haha :( SO much to do and yet so little time! No I'm kidding. I still am plenty young to do everything and anything I want. I work for a pharmaceutical company and I actually go back to work tomorrow after a month-long hiatus (more on that later). This year is the first birthday I am spending without my friends. The ones I usually celebrate with are far away in grad school and so I've posted some pictures from my birthday last year.

Birthweek Dinner with KC in New York City

Birthday Dinner @ The Frog and the Peach, New Brunswick, NJ

This year, I'll be spending my birthday running errands around Flushing, NY, then driving home 2.5 hours to South Jersey and having dinner with my parents. I told my mom I'd prefer to have a home cooked meal since my dad will be flying in tomorrow from New Orleans. But we'll see what's in store for me today :)

Anyway, back to... more about me. I have a lot of hobbies. That plays into how social I am and how I can get along with pretty much anyone! To list a few, I enjoy reading whenever I get the chance to. I'm one of those people who sits at Barnes & Noble for a couple hours just reading novels. I love to sing. I sang ever since I was little. By no means am I the next Lady Gaga but I do sound pretty divalicious in the car and the shower. I play the piano and I've been teaching myself the guitar for some time now. I learned to use Photoshop yesterday and I love it! That cupcake you see up there is the first project I finished yesterday before making my banner. Haha, I learned partially because I started this blog, but also because I've been meaning to get into photography. *cough* I hope I get a camera for my birthday *cough* I love make up. I love nail polish. I love hair. BIG hair. Part of me thinks I was a drag queen in a past life because I am way too fabulous haha. I love food. I love to cook. and so on and so forth. So with this blog, I hope to share ALL of my hidden talents with you. Hopefully, I'll be able to upload videos in the near future.

Now, "Sylvia's Frosting." A simple explanation of where I got the name of my blog would be from one of my favorite movies, "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days." And as defined in my header, frosting is an embellishment. I couldn't think of anything more appropriate to call my blog where I would be discussing products and techniques on how to use embellishments!  I am the canvas and everything in the world is my frosting :)

So please leave me comments. Wish me a Happy Birthday!
